Ellis Island: The Dream of AmericaPortland Choir and Orchestra Ellis Island: The Dream of America presents a unique musical exploration of America and its growth as a nation of immigrants. Titled after Peter Boyer's composition, this concert spotlights poignant Ellis Island stories from the late 1800's and early 1900's, set to a moving orchestral score. A variety of contemporary American choral works will also be woven into the presentation. In the months preceding, and after the concert, members of the Portland Choir and Orchestra are excited to participate in a variety of collaborative hands-on service opportunities with JustServe.org, Catholic Charities, Refugee Care Collective, Lutheran Community Services Refugees, Immigrant and Refugee Support Group, Portland Refugee Support Group, and Butterfly Boxes all focusing on helping refugee families. |
