Edwina French

Edwina French joined Pittsburgh Youth Chorus as its executive director in July of 2013.  Her experiences in arts management began in 1991 when she founded the Community Music School, a non-profit organization located in Trappe, PA. Serving as the executive director of this organization, she led its growth from 38 to 700 students, successfully managed two capital campaigns, launched a community concert series, and created an art gallery within the school displaying the works of professional regional artists. Edwina is committed to further enhancing music opportunities for children and has served on numerous volunteer committees and occupied positions on several boards, including president of the Bel Canto Children’s Chorus in Red Hill, PA.

Edwina has earned degrees in vocal performance from The Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University (MM ’79) and from the Philadelphia Musical Academy, now the University of the Arts (BM ’76).  She has a Certificate in Fund Raising and Non-Profit Management from the University of Pennsylvania and also completed the Arts Management in Community Institutions program offered by the National Guild of Community Arts Education.
