Breakout Session Speaker - Online Event
A lifelong Minnesotan, Ethan Johnson is the Director of Artistic Operations with VocalEssence in Minneapolis. Always happy to jump into the thick of planning and operations work, Ethan oversees behind-the-scenes details of VocalEssence artistic programs, including concert production and community programming. Never afraid of a list, he helps direct the season planning process and loves diving into making programs come together without a hitch. During the pandemic, Ethan has taken on planning and direction for new digital program releases and has enjoyed helping VocalEssence connect with audience in innovative new ways.
Prior to joining the VocalEssence staff, Ethan spent time as an English Teaching Assistant in northern France, working with high school students in their oral proficiency. He graduated magna cum laude from St. Olaf College with a degree in Music, Political Science, and French. While there, he played and worked for the St. Olaf Orchestra, gaining his first experiences in arts management as the student manager of the ensemble.
A native of Austin, Minnesota, Ethan enjoys getting to travel to places new and old with family & friends, spending time outside reading a good novel, and practicing viola when he gets the chance. He is active in the choral community, always eager to help colleagues near and far in planning and exploring new avenues for sharing choral music, especially in the digital realm.
