Coming in April 2025: Angels’ Blood: Murder in the Chorus, by Roberta Mantell (pen name for Chorus America member Roberta Hershenson). Published by Indies United Publishing House.

What if two new 1899 Requiem manuscripts, identical except for the composers’ name, mysteriously turned up in your chorus? The first, signed by an unknown 19th century woman, the second by a male composer well known today. Moreover, the two were rumored to have an illicit romantic relationship back in late 19th century England. Which one would you suspect of plagiarism?

Now imagine how that mystery might connect to the murders of two singers in a leading chorus of today. Add one ambitious young arts reporter who finds a century-old coverup as she investigates the case. The book has been described as a literary mystery that’s also fun to read.

I (the author) sang with choruses for 25 years and was an arts and culture writer for the New York Times for three decades.
